The Latest Trends in Kitchen Design

Kitchen trends have taken an exciting new turn in recent years. Where previous trends focused on using neutral tones to diffuse natural light, newer kitchen designs now boast unexpected bursts of color for maximum impact.

Designer Catherine Deutschlander of CW Design PLLC and an NKBA member states that while shaker-style cabinet doors remain popular among homeowners, thinner options for more customized spaces have become increasingly sought after. She predicts pantries to remain essential features in contemporary kitchens.

1. Neutral Colors

Recent trends in kitchen design favor an elegant yet simplistic aesthetic. You may still choose decor with flair, but opt for a curated look instead of going all-out on one theme; this makes your space appear more lived-in and personal.

Color can add a lively element to any kitchen, be it through accents, less-expensive upgrades such as backsplashes or windows and lighting or for inexpensive upgrades like backsplashes and windows.

When choosing neutral paint colors for your kitchen, look for hues with warm undertones. Sherwin-Williams Alabaster is an attractive neutral that suits both traditional and contemporary kitchen settings; Farrow and Ball’s Lamp Room Grey works equally well in modern as well as traditional homes; Sage is another low-key hue which adds sophistication and serenity in an otherwise neutral setting.

2. Simple Sketches

Kitchen design trends have recently evolved towards adding splashes of color through accessories and paint rather than revamping entire walls or cabinets, giving homeowners a way to update their kitchen with minimal investment.

Kitchen windows have become an increasingly popular trend. Window additions not only increase natural lighting and ventilation, but can also serve as an escape route in case of fire.

Marble’s elegant beauty makes it a popular choice among designers. Recently, this trend has extended to range hoods as many choose to add marble finishes to their hobs to make their kitchens stand out from the competition.

Another trend we are witnessing is the reinvention of extractor fans. Instead of blowing out odours with traditional fans, new downdraft extraction systems draw out any odours or fumes downward, so they do not permeate the room.

3. No Overly Exciting Appliances

Following kitchen trends can make your home stand out, but doing so could result in temporary designs that quickly look outdated and out-of-place. Instead, invest in timeless colors and designs that work well within your space.

Contrasting colors are one of the best ways to add some flair and distinction to your kitchen. A contrast between backsplash and countertops creates an eye-catching appearance while remaining easy to maintain than neutral hues.

People today prefer kitchens that exude more curated looks over open plans, adding personal touches like artwork and decorations that create a more lived-in aesthetic. Curated kitchens tend to exude more personality and warmth which is important in the heart of any home.

4. No Mosaic Tiles

Kitchens are one of the cornerstones of every house. By creating an appealing interior design for this room, creating greater resale value and making it more enjoyable to use is possible. 2023 kitchen design trends focus heavily on personalization and self-expression through creative solutions.

The minimalist kitchen is becoming increasingly popular as people seek to create a relaxing space with clean sweeping lines. Furthermore, this new style is eco-friendly by using smart appliances which reduce electrical usage and odour extraction systems which remove odours at their source rather than spreading them through the air.

As people desire a more unique and personalized aesthetic, kitchen trends have seen an increasing shift toward mixed materials such as marble that mimics Carrara but is less susceptible to staining or concrete with metal finishings.

5. Barnhouse Kitchens

Barnhouse kitchens are an emerging trend among those looking to add flair and personalization to their kitchen space. Boasting rustic decor elements like milk pitchers as flower vases, ceramic roosters, and barn door cabinets – barnhouse kitchens bring rustic decor into modern kitchen design.

An increasingly popular trend in kitchen design is creating a pantry. These versatile storage solutions are an effective way to conceal all your kitchen gadgets while adding some style and personality to the room.

While trends and fads can quickly come and go, certain styles will remain fashionable for an extended period. Examples of such trends are organic elements such as natural stone countertops or brightly-hued backsplashes and hood surrounds that stand the test of time. Also popular has been maximization light.
