Top 5 Garden Accessories

Planting supplies allow you to engage in fun gardening exercises that will enrich your mind and your lifestyle. They are expensive or cheap depending on the needs and wishes of every gardener.

Monica and her nationwide team tyre garden tools, equipment and accessories through their paces before approval. Here are a couple of their picks.

Harvest Baskets
Your harvest basket will be moving between garden and kitchen a lot, so make sure it is sturdy, long-lasting, and simple to clean. Wicker baskets are pretty but if you will be collecting dirty produce regularly then replace with a steel trug (Greg Wade’s old-school galvanized basket or Good Direction’s woven copper trug is a good choice).

Trüge made from wood are also sturdy and sustainable – Arhaus has this rattan vegetable basket, for instance. For something a little more exotic, Goods for the Soul has this handwoven flower caddy that can hold tall stemmed bouquets – all made with food-safe materials and food-safe paints for permanent color. And also provided by Fair Trade organisations: medical insurance, schooling for their children and business training to boost earnings of the artisans who make such products.

Tool Caddy
Close-up access to your favourite gardening equipment keeps you on task. An tools caddy has slots for trowels, weeders, snips and pruning shears and a lid that is accessible on a hinge so you don’t worry about it getting lost between uses.

Plastic five-gallon buckets are great garden friends. Not only large enough to bring transplants and pots into the yard, but can also hold labels and plastic bags collected during planting, these solid containers are excellent for storage, too, if they’re combined with bucket caddies with pocketed covers – even more use!

When you have big tools or long trips out on the town, a wheeled tool organizer can replace the hassle of carrying them all by yourself. These carts will typically have many pockets for all types of tools, and are built to be pulled around, so there won’t be any going from your garden back and forth. They’re also handy for tool transport from class to class!

Gloves
Gloves can shield your hands from dirt, rough roads, thorns or spikes, tender skin blistering, gardening made easier and increased grip strength of fingertips. Choose gloves that are not too tight and that feel breathable so you can remain cool even when it’s very hot out.

Spear & Jackson gloves are airy, lightweight, machine washable gloves made to keep you comfortable and ventilated. Their nitrile-finger and palms are great for grabbing on tools or doing hard-to-reach chores like weeding. No liner inside them to soak in moisture as they soak through, but still water resistant – great for spring and summer! Stretchy neoprene wrists with Velcro closure for secure fit Touch screen compatible for phones without ever taking off the gloves!
